LEV in a nutshell

EN
Limmud Europe Values (LEV) is an exciting new project centred around the Limmud values. Led by a core team of volunteers from Austria, Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany, France, Luxembourg, Serbia and Spain, LEV is a series of 12 online gatherings, applying a European lens onto the ten Limmud values: Learning, Expanding Jewish Horizons, Enabling Connections, Participation, Empowerment, Diversity, Community and Mutual Responsibility, Respect, Arguments for the Sake of Heaven. The two additional gatherings will focus on Sustainability and Solidarity. If you’d like to join the team get in touch.

Each gathering is programmed and organised by a diverse team of volunteers from Limmud communities across Europe. Each team can take ownership over the content they bring and issues they choose to focus on. Teams have the freedom to decide about format (single or multiple tracks), modalities (learning, panels, discussion, art shows, exhibitions, concerts, virtual tours, chevruta, etc), length and languages. If you’d like to co-organise one of the LEV events let us know.

The gathering on the theme of Solidarity, which we are hoping to be able to hold in person, will bring together all the learning, networking, needs and ideas that will have emerged over the course of LEV’s activities.

In times of rising populism, nationalism and systemic racism, the LEV project brings together Jewish communities across Europe.

LEV serves as an important platform for Limmud volunteers, leaders and Jewish educators from Europe and potentially Europeans from across the world. Limmud volunteers are often also involved in other ways in the communities they live and work in. LEV offers a space to share experiences, knowledge, skills, stories, ideas and resources, and to discuss issues and create collaborative responses to the ongoing challenges caused by the global health crisis and other pressing issues.

LEV is a project of Limmud. Limmud is the pioneer of a cross-communal, non-denominational and inter-generational Jewish learning model, organised and run almost entirely by volunteers. The model has inspired dozens of Jewish communities worldwide to create their own Limmud events unified by a common set of values.

The set of values enable the creation of inclusive and participant-centered gatherings. Limmud has earned a reputation of engaging participants from all pockets of the community as well as from outside the community, thus making it the largest communal platform for Jewish learning, discussion and networking. It is because of these qualities that the Limmud network can be instrumental in facilitating a European Jewish response to the challenges ahead, not least the Covid19 crisis.

FR

Limmud Europe Values (LEV) to ekscytujący nowy projekt skupiony wokół wartości Limmudu, prowadzony przez zespół wolontariuszy z Austrii, Bułgarii, Danii, Niemiec, Francji, Luksemburga, Serbii i Hiszpanii.

W czasach rosnącego populizmu, nacjonalizmu i systemowego rasizmu, projekt LEV skupia społeczności żydowskie w całej Europie.

LEV to projekt Limmudu.
