When and where did your Limmud journey begin?

My first steps within the universe called Limmud began more than a decade ago, when the idea of doing a Limmud in Germany was put into action. I went to the Limmuds and gradually got more involved - which is kind of a natural for Limmud, which thrives on each and every individual's contribution, and offers so many different ways of getting involved!
We organized Limmuds in Berlin and the German Festival in different places around the country. In recent years I'm more focused on strengthening Limmud groups all over Germany, as well as connecting the Limmud community in Europe and beyond. It's is, and has been, a remarkable and rewarding journey. I would not want to miss it!

How would you explain what Limmud is to someone who has never heard of it?

If you want to meet new people, if you want to expand your knowledge in a engaging, challenging, fun, respectful and non-judgmental way, Limmud is a perfect place to be. It's experiencing Jewish life, learning and ideas in all its variety. Each Limmud has its own flavor, none is the same. These days, it's easier than ever to get a taste of what Limmud is, as there are so many different Limmud happening online. Most remarkably, all this is not done by a top-down leadership, but by committed volunteers who want to do things together, for the best of all involved. If you want to move if, you can do it - and most likely will find others who'll join in!

What excites you about being part of LEV?

To me, LEV is an extension of where my own Limmud journey is going. I like the opportunity to connect us all across the (European) board, and to drive home, in a practical way, the idea of being a community, with mutual responsibility for one another. There is so much we can learn from each other, and create together.
